2D MAPPING
When Satellite maps just don't cut it
Relying on outdated and low-resolution imagery to provide the information you need can lead to significant delays, costly mistakes, and frustration. In contrast, utilizing drones and advanced photogrammetry software enables the creation of high-resolution, up-to-date, and geometrically accurate maps, which are invaluable tools in effective project management. These detailed maps not only enhance decision-making but also ensure precision in site analysis, design, and construction phases, ultimately improving overall project efficiency and success.
How it works
Drone technology has undergone incredible advancement since its inception. Alterra is powered by the latest drone and camera solutions to deliver high-quality deliverables.

Our pilot plans an autonomous mission that covers the desired area of the project. On site, the pilot checks for any obstructions to ensure safe operation, sets up the takeoff location and any ground markers that are needed. The drone then flies this mission while taking pictures, creating a dataset that incorporates the entire site.

Next, the images are imported into photogrammetry processing software. This program stitches the images together into a collage creating a map of your site.

Leading satellite image data providers typically offer ground resolutions up to 12 inches per pixel in select locations, and often much lower in others. In contrast, utilizing 4K+ drone cameras paired with high-power processing we can achieve resolutions as fine as 0.5 inches per pixel. This capability allows detailed visualization of small and delicate objects like gas valves, fences, and pavement distress. The ability to discern such details could mean the difference between smooth, safe operations and an expensive mistake.

Traditional topographic surveys are often costly and can take days or weeks to complete. Similarly, ordering satellite imagery often takes days to arrive, and typically lacks the resolution and reliability needed for detailed analysis. Drones offer an affordable alternative delivering high-resolution, accurate data in just a few hours.

Incorporate photo map data as a supplement to your CAD drawings, enabling easier visualization of your designs in the context of real-time landscape conditions. This integration helps bridge the gap between planning and execution, ensuring more informed and precise decision-making.
View Site Progress on Your Phone
Create a map in time intervals to track progression. Watch your site grow from an empty lot into a busy worksite, tracking material placement, parking, building progress with eyes in the sky. The best part? Track all of this from your smartphone in the comfort of your office or vehicle. Easily share and showcase your progress to colleagues and stakeholders.
Inspect from your Desk
Utilizing High resolution mapping, create maps of objects that are viewable from your desk. Analyze pavement stress, water damage, and plant health keeping your boots dry. Keep a visual record with annotations for future reference.
